What Is CBT Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that focuses on how your thoughts influence the way you feel and behave.
CBT has been clinically proven to be effective in treating a range of common mental health concerns, including depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), generalised anxiety and phobias.
Through CBT, you will learn to recognise unhelpful thought patterns and understand how they affect your emotional responses and behaviours.
There are helpful and unhelpful ways of interpreting situations, often determined by the way we think about them.
For example, if you are not offered a job you hoped for, you might begin to think that you have failed or that you are not capable of doing the role. These thoughts can lead to feelings of disappointment, low mood or self-doubt, which may stop you from applying for further opportunities.
Over time, you might begin to withdraw from friends or social situations because of embarrassment or frustration, creating a negative cycle that can be difficult to break.

Breaking Negative Cycles
Rather than accepting these patterns of thinking, CBT helps people recognise and understand them.
By learning to challenge unhelpful thoughts and approach situations in a more balanced way, it becomes possible to break these negative cycles and move forward with greater confidence and optimism. This process can help you feel more in control of your decisions and maintain a more positive outlook on the future.

How CBT Therapy Can Help
CBT helps you explore, understand and gradually change the thought patterns and behaviours that may be keeping you stuck.
During therapy we work collaboratively to identify what is maintaining your difficulties and develop practical strategies to help you achieve your personal goals.
CBT can be helpful for a range of concerns, including:

"I came to Henrietta struggling with intense anxiety relating to taking next steps in my career. Her CBT sessions are practical and effective. She doesn't just listen she gives you the tools to 're-wire' how you handle situations. It’s like personal training for your mind. I’ve seen a massive shift in my confidence and my mental clarity."
